ECKAN is a community action agency fighting poverty, helping low-income persons toward self sufficiency in 16 east central Kansas counties.

ECKAN works in conjunction with the Kansas Housing Resource Corporation, the Kansas Department of Commerce, area units of government, and local financial institutions to provide affordable rental housing.

ECKAN owns and operates 53 rental houses in Emporia, Ottawa, Osawatomie, Paola, Waverly, and LeRoy.

Household monthly earnings must be at least 2.5 X listed rent amount. (Example: $450 rent, minimum monthly income: $450 x 2.5 = $1,125.00.)
